ALEJANDRO MOLESTINA

THE ACCENT FALLS DIFFERENTLY THIS TIME (2020)

Analyzation of the idea of something which is hand-held. Specifically jewelry. I wanted to explore this because of the relationship I have with my family and the things I wear around my neck and fingers. Most of my rings and my necklaces which were given to me, or found by me, belonged to one of my family members before I started wearing them. Most of these people have passed on, and being the youngest grandchild in the family, I was not fortunate enough to ever have developed a bond with them, or even meet most of them. I wanted to use this project to explore the relationship between my ancestors and the bond I share with them through the things I wear everyday—and which they themselves used to wear everyday—and how this act of wearing these ornaments connects me to my family.
